WORLD RECORD UNDERWAY, GIVING BIRTH TO 10 BABIES AT A TIME.

Giving birth is the most profound initiation to spirituality a woman can have but comes with a world record as something exuberant and flabbergasting. It is not the first time a woman is giving birth and is making a world record too.

A South African woman named Gosiame Thamare Sithole, 37, has given birth to a total of 10 babies out of which seven are boys and three are girls. The woman may set a Guinness World Record for giving birth to most babies at a time, beating the previous record set by an American woman named Nadya Suleman who gave birth to six boys and two girls in the US, in 2009.

Teboho Tsotetsi, husband of Gosiame Thamare Sithole quoted that during the medical examination of the mother, the doctor detected 8 babies which is reportedly two less than the woman gave birth to. He reportedly said she was seven months and 7 days pregnant and gave birth to seven boys and three girls, he did not speak much with the regional reporter and ended by saying he is extremely happy and emotional and also confirmed he is yet to see the babies. The woman later confirmed that she gave birth to twins who are contemporarily 6 years old and also quoted that her delivery was natural.

TOO MANY BABIES, NOT TYPICALLY NEW

The history of childbirths all across the globe provides us with evidence that giving birth to a lot of babies is neither a new concept nor abnormal. Let’s hover around previous cases where a woman did not give birth to twins quadruplets but something even more than that.

  • NADYA SULEMAN: claimed publicity all across the globe on January 26, 2009, at KAISER PERMANENTE MEDICAL CENTER, BELLFLOWER, CALIFORNIA. She gave birth to octuplets which means 8 babies born at a time. She gave birth through Vitro fertilization. She has also been referred to as an Octomom in the US media, her octuplets held the record of second full-length octuplets born in the US to survive. Her octuplets even surpassed the previous octuplets survival rates as all of them survived, surpassing CHUKWU OCTUPLETS in 1998.
  • HALIMA CISSE: in May 2021 a woman from Mali gave birth to nine children at a time in the 30th week of her pregnancy. Her delivery of babies happened at AIM BORJA CLINIC in CASABLANCA, the delivery was undertaken by a team of 10 doctors and 25 paramedics. She gave birth through Caesarean Section in Morocco. The government of both countries intervened and congratulated the mother and father of the child.

Giving birth to more than a single child is a case of multiple pregnancies. It is very rare for a woman to give birth to more than 2 babies at a time but it is possible by looking at the cases discussed above. Research is still underway determining how it results in giving birth to 6 to 10 children at a time and the complications have already been discussed. Moreover, in various cases, not all babies come under pre-delivery scans done by doctors and almost all cases of multiple deliveries give birth before desired 40 weeks gestation period.
