Trains Will Not Run From 4th May, Reservations on Hold till Next Order, Full Refund of Cancellations Can Be Availed
The lockdown in the country has been extended to 3 May to prevent the spread of the corona virus. During this time the operation of the trains and airlines will remain cancelled as before.
Will the railways start reservation from May 4?
Meanwhile, the railways have also stopped reservations in trains till further orders. This also raises the question whether the train will not run from May 4?
The answer to this question remains a mystery till further orders from the railway ministry comes.
However, at present the trains have been cancelled till 3 May.
Advance booking also stopped
Railways on Tuesday issued a statement after PM Modi’s announcement that advance reservation in trains has been stopped. The ban is also on e-ticket booking. It will stay till the next order. However, the facility of online ticket cancellation will continue. Earlier, when the 21-day lockdown was announced, the railways did not stop booking tickets after April 15.
The fare will be refunded.
Railway said that by May 3, the full refund of cancellation of train tickets will be automatically given to the passengers who have booked the tickets digitally and those who have taken the ticket from the counter, they can take the refund till 31 July. It was said by the Railways, “As far as the tickets for cancelled trains till 3 May are concerned, the amount will be sent to the accounts of those people who have booked it digitally. Those who have taken the ticket from the counter can get the refund till July 31 after the lockdown opens. No cancellation charge will be charged”. Railways said that the full money will also be refunded to those who cancelled the advance bookings for trains which have not yet been cancelled.
Why did Railways take this step?
It is believed that the railways have taken this step because even though the corona virus lockdown has been extended till May 3 or the lockdown might not end after that or the trains are not allowed to operate, the railway will once again get passengers. It will not have to struggle to cancel the booking made by it and return the amount. People can also be saved from the trouble.
