Good News: IT Companies Exported 23 Crore Amid Lockdown

In the midst of all-round economic disappointment due to the lockdown, IT companies based in Dehradun have exported Rs 23 crore overseas. The lockdown has increased the work of companies from building school applications to publishing. 

There are 13 IT companies operating in the IT Park in Dehradun. Under the Software Technology Park of India (STPI), all the above companies are export units, mainly dealing with the US and Europe. Ninety percent of the IT companies are currently working from their home due to the lockdown. As a result, companies are able to maintain their pace of work.

 Meanwhile, all the companies have submitted export bills of about Rs 23 crore (works between March 20 and April 30) to STPI for verification. Most companies in Dehradun work on e-books, back office management, customer relations, GPS data, web development in which about 28 hundred workers are employed. E-books companies have increased the work of content related to Corona these days, online teaching solution has also increased with the closure of the school. Along with this, more than two dozen domestic IT companies also work in Uttarakhand. All the above companies have maintained the pace of work from home. 

No problem at the moment

Udit Handa, CEO of Dehradun-based IT company Cynoteck Technology Solution, said that he had implemented work from home before the lockdown. There was no problem due to this. In Dehradun, internet speed is fine in most places. Udit Handa said that the work is coming at the moment. There is delay in some projects going on in the countries affected more than Corona but they are optimistic about the future.

Dr. Omkar Rai, Director General of STPI said that Uttarakhand-based IT companies have submitted 309 software export forms during the lockdown period, showing a total export of Rs 22.90 crore. In the financial year 2018-19, IT export from Uttarakhand was around 150 crores, which is a good progress from the small state. STPI has also waived four months rent to companies. According to STPI, the nodal agency, total IT exports in Uttarakhand are growing at a rate of 12 percent annually.

Major IT companies

Major IT companies like MPS Limited, RMSI Private Limited, Cynoteck Technology Solution, Evon Technology, Smart Data, Global Content provide IT services to various countries in Europe. Employees sitting in Dehradun do all the work through the internet, content exchange is also done online. 

The educational and peaceful atmosphere of the state is considered more favorable for IT companies. RK Sudhanshu, Secretary IT, Uttarakhand says that IT services have been put in essential service from day one. The administration has been asked to keep better coordination with IT companies. Necessary facilities are also being provided.
