Hestor Biosciences Join Hands With IIT-G To Make Coronavirus Vaccine
Coronavirus has created turmoil in the entire world. World economy lies on the brink of destruction as most of the countries are in a lockdown. No economic operations is taking place.
Death toll is getting traumatic each day. Each country, each city, each laboratory, each scientist is researching only one thing – VACCINE OF CORONAVIRUS. Day and night they are recklessly toiling to find its treatment. Many treatments have come which has ignited a positive ray of light like plasma therapy but the world awaits a full-fledged treatment.
Hester Biosciences collabs with IIT-G to make vaccine
Meanwhile, efforts to make Covid-19 vaccine in India have also intensified. Ahmedabad-based pharmaceutical company Hester Biosciences said on Wednesday that it will develop the vaccine for COVID-19 in association with the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG).
For this, the agreement was signed between the two organizations on 15 April 2020. The company said that the vaccine would be based on the recombinant avian paramyxovirus-based vector platform. Rajiv Gandhi, CEO and MD, Hester Biosciences said, “Both IIT Guwahati and Hester has joined hands in developing a vaccine to eliminate Covid-19”.
Recombinant avian paramyxovirus-1 to be used
According to the statement, recombinant avian paramyxovirus-1 will be used as an immunologic protein for ‘SARS-Cove-2’.
Rajiv Gandhi, managing director and chief executive officer of Hester Bioscience said, “The company and IIT-Guwahati will jointly develop a recombinant vaccine to fight the corona virus disease. It will be manufactured as a safeguard”. “Hester will work from the initial stage of vaccine development until its commercial release” he added. Regarding the potential of this vaccine, Sachin Kumar, associate professor in the Department of Biology and Biotechnology, IIT Guwahati, said “that it is too early to comment on it”. He will head the research team.
Coronavirus cases in India reach 31,332; death toll reaches 1007
Coronavirus has affected 3,138,413 people worldwide and has killed 217,985 people so far. The country in which coronavirus has created maximum havoc is America in which 1.04M people are affected.
In India too, 1900 new cases of corona virus have been reported in the last 24 hours while the maximum number of 70 people have died. According to the Health Ministry data released on Wednesday, the number of people infected with the corona virus in the country has increased to 31,332. At the same time, the death toll of this dangerous Covid-19 epidemic has reached 1007 and total people recovered are 7,797.
