However, Emre Peker, the Europe director at the Eurasia Group think tank, has raised concerns regarding the financing and feasibility of the project. Peker noted that Turkey may lack the necessary financial resources to realize the full scope of the infrastructure development and may be seeking support from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar to fund the project.

For this funding to materialize, the Gulf governments would need convincing evidence that their investments in the Development Road project would yield profitable returns.
