The World in 5 Years and Why India Will Be A Major Player.
The world in 2024 has gotten off to a rocky start for understandable reasons. We are six months into 2024, and we have managed to keep ourselves on our two feet, although the terrain we are treading on is still not stable. Without wasting any time, let us have a look at the year gone by and what will be India’s future in the next five years.
Number 1- The Sino-Russian partnership.
Russia and China have the same left wing ideology as well the same elected dictator style, both of them pride themselves on the nuclear arsenal that they have collected over the years, by hook and crook. While being stocked up on nuclear weapons is nowadays a must for every country so that it can take a seat at the global table, the reason these two countries are especially dangerous is that they have absolutely no problem with employing violence as a means to ward off their troubles and the fact they are always ready to pull the trigger makes thing worse.
Both have another reason for being so united: America. America has always thought of itself as the lawgiver to the entire world, and it has sanctioned Russia in just about every sector, from calling off weapon deals to immobilizing funds.
Where does Russia now look forward to? China, because China has hated America since the very beginning and it would be more than happy to combine their ideologies and weapons together, has not once said a word against Russia on Ukraine, which confirms that an alliance has formed.
Number 2- The Israel-Palestine conflict.
As if one war was not enough, the second conflict( not war because it has not been announced from either side; it is essentially a school altercation gone wrong at the global level) of Palestine and Israel has continued well on from 2023 to 2024, just like the Russia Ukraine War.
Temperatures soared to the very extremes in 2023(check any meteorological report), both literally and metaphorically speaking.
The world has been burning with the growing summer heat and the tempers of the conflicts. Palestine made the mistake of attacking Israel, and ever since, as one possessed, Israel just cannot stop teaching Palestine a lesson.
Millions of people have been killed, countless bombs have been deployed, and friendships have been made and destroyed based on which side you support, but the bloodshed does not stop for either Russia-Ukraine or Israel Palestine.
Several meetups have been organized to give away funds and solidarity for Ukraine and Palestine, as recent as the G7 summit, but there seems to be no tangible result.
But despite all this gory carnival going on, India a long touted underdog has emerged as a glorious contender to be among one of the top economies in the next 5 years. It contributed 16 % to the global growth and hosted the long-awaited G20 summit with such charismatic elan, proving its negotiating and organizational prowess when everything around seemed to be collapsing.
It shows that a polyglot, rapier sharp witted External Affairs Minster like S Jaishankar, coupled with an equally strong Home Affairs Minister, Amit Shah, are perfectly capable of working together in mutual consensus for the aim of achieving a consensus at the global level, even if they are the very opposites of each other.
Additionally, the Sagarmala port development project, the Bharat Mata highway development project, the Smart Cities Mission are finally helping India become the long overdue modernized nation it was supposed to be. A lot has happened during the past year but India unlike the others smartly avoided any conflict, worked on itself which shows us that minding your own business goes a long way.
