The appointment of Sudarshan Venu as managing director of TVS Holdings Ltd (formerly known as Sundaram-Clayton Ltd) for a term of five years with immediate effect was accepted by the board of directors on Monday, elevating him from the position of director.
Son of Venu Srinivasan, who was named chairman emeritus and MD of TVS Holdings Ltd on April 1, 2022, Sudarshan Venu is the MD of TVS Motor Company right now.
Lakshmi Venu, the daughter of Venu Srinivasan, has been promoted as managing director of the firm with effect from May 6, 2022, as part of a strategy to put the next generation in charge.
Lakshmi Venu had previously served as the joint MD, and the decision to promote her to the position came shortly after Sudarshan Venu was named the MD of TVS Motor Company at that time. Additionally chosen as the company’s chairman last year was R Gopalan.
A significant auto component manufacturer from Chennai, Sundaram-Clayton Ltd, changed its name to TVS Holdings to serve as the holding company for investments in TVS Motor Company.
In accordance with a plan for family arrangements within the TVS Group, the name was changed when TVS Holdings Pvt Ltd and Sundaram-Clayton Ltd (SCL) merged effective June 16, 2023. TVS Holdings now has a 50.26 percent share in TVS Motor Company.
The board also authorised the nomination of Timm Tiller as a non-executive independent director of the firm during its meeting on Monday. Additionally, it has accepted Sasikala Varadachari’s nomination as a corporate independent director for a second three-year term beginning on October 24, 2023.
The firm reported domestic revenues of Rs 1,061 crore in FY23 vs Rs 868 crore the year before, representing a 22% increase. Exports increased by 18% to Rs 919 crore from Rs 780 crore, while profit before tax increased by 38% to Rs 219 crore from Rs 158 crore. On the BSE, shares of TVS Holdings finished on Monday at Rs. 5609.25, up Rs. 58.10 or 1.05% from its previous closing of Rs. 5551.15.
