Satyapal Malik’s Name Entangles In Insurance Scam Amid His Allegation On PM Modi.

The CBI has raided a dozen places in Jammu, Kashmir, Delhi, and Rajasthan, including former J&K governor Satya Pal Malik's ex-media advisor Saunak Bali's residence.

If you are a grown-up adult who is well-versed in the nation’s current affairs, then Mr Satyapal Malik is no new name you can hear. Yet, this name is circulating like a fire in many social media and news outlets.

The CBI has raided a dozen places in Jammu, Kashmir, Delhi, and Rajasthan, including former J&K governor Satya Pal Malik’s ex-media advisor Saunak Bali’s residence.

The searches were conducted as part of the CBI’s investigation into alleged insurance fraud in J&K. A chartered accountant’s office and the homes of private persons in Delhi and Rajasthan was also searched. Malik was called by the CBI last month based on his accusation that he was given a bribe to clear files. The search was necessary due to the study of financial papers, digital evidence, and statements from the accused and other people involved in the investigation. Malik commented in October of last year after completing his governorships in Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Goa, and Meghalaya.

The CBI filed two FIRs in connection with Malik’s claims of corruption in the allocation of contracts for a group medical insurance programme for government employees, as well as civil works worth Rs 2,200 crore relating to the Kiru hydroelectric power project in Jammu and Kashmir.

Malik said in October 2021 that he was given a bribe of Rs 300 crore to clear two files, one involving “Ambani” and the other involving an RSS chief. The CBI opened two cases and searched 14 places in response to the claim. It booked Anil Ambani’s Reliance General Insurance Company and Chenab Valley Power Projects employees last year. In October 2018, Malik cancelled the insurance contract. Malik was investigated by the CBI in connection with the two instances last year.

The details of the FIR in Satyapal Malik case.

The FIR alleges that unknown officials of the Finance Department of the Government of J&K committed criminal conspiracy and criminal misconduct by abusing their official positions in collusion and connivance with Trinity Reinsurance Brokers Ltd, Reliance General Insurance Company Ltd, and many unknown public servants and private persons. They deceived the Government of Jammu and Kashmir by causing financial gain to themselves and unjust damage to the state exchequer in 2017 and 2018, it said.

The CBI stated in its second FIR, referring to the misuse and malpractices in the reward of contract for the civil works pack of the Kiru hydroelectric power project, that e-tendering norms were not followed.

The action was filed in response to charges of fraud in the awarding of the civil works contract for the Kiru Hydro Electric Power Project (HEP) to a private business in 2019. Navin Kumar Chaudhary, former chairman of Chenab Valley Power Projects (P) Ltd, M S Babu, former MD, M K Mittal and Arun Kumar Mishra, former directors, and Patel Engineering Ltd have all been arrested.

Although a decision was made in the 47th Board meeting of CVPPPL (Chenab Valley Power Projects Ltd) to re-tender through e-tendering with the reverse auction following the cancellation of the ongoing tendering process, the decision was not implemented (as per the decision made in the 48th board meeting). The tender was eventually awarded to Patel Engineering Ltd, according to the FIR.

Modi govt must come clean on allegations by former JK government

Conclusion.

In addition, the CBI summons came only days after Malik claimed in an interview that the PM had urged him to be silent over the home ministry’s refusal to supply CRPF with an aircraft to ferry its personnel. Following a terror assault in Pulwama, the military went by road in a convoy, and 40 men were slain. Mr Malik made serious allegations on PM Modi by mentioning that ‘the PM is not so affected by corruption” and many more.
