As heavy rains hit Delhi, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red and orange alerts across various regions in the country. The red alert indicates extremely heavy rainfall, while the orange alert signals heavy to very heavy rainfall. These alerts are crucial in helping residents and authorities prepare for potential flooding and other related hazards.
In the national capital, Delhi, the heavy rains on Wednesday morning caused waterlogging in several areas. Waterlogging can disrupt normal life, affect transportation, and create other inconveniences for residents. However, the downpour also brought much-needed relief from the sweltering heat that Delhi often experiences.
The impact of heavy rains can vary across different regions within the National Capital Region (NCR). It’s common for visuals of the rainfall and its aftermath to circulate on social media platforms like Twitter, where people share images and videos to showcase the intensity of the weather conditions and the challenges faced by the residents.
During such weather events, it’s essential for people to stay updated with the latest information from official sources like the IMD and local authorities. Residents should take necessary precautions to stay safe during heavy rains and be mindful of potential flooding and related risks. Following any issued advisories and being prepared can help minimize the impact of such weather events.
Based on the seven-day forecast by the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Delhi is expected to experience a generally cloudy sky with moderate rain and thundershowers throughout the week. This forecast suggests that the rain is likely to continue in the region, which may result in occasional breaks of sunshine between the showers.
As for Noida and Greater Noida, the heavy rain and subsequent waterlogging prompted the Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration to take precautionary measures.
To ensure the safety of students and avoid potential disruptions, the district administration ordered the closure of all schools up to Class 12 on Wednesday. This decision was likely taken to prevent any risks to students and staff due to the challenging weather conditions and waterlogged areas.
During this period of continuous rain and possible waterlogging, it’s important for residents in Delhi and neighboring areas to stay vigilant and stay informed about any weather updates and official advisories from local authorities. Travelers should also exercise caution on the roads and be aware of possible disruptions to transportation services. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 34.9 and 27.3 degrees Celsius respectively.

MAHARASHTRA RAINS
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for multiple districts in Maharashtra, namely Raigad, Pune, Satara, and Ratnagiri, indicating the possibility of heavy rainfall in these regions.
Due to the alert and in consideration of safety, the district administration in Raigad has taken a proactive measure by declaring a holiday for all schools and colleges on July 26. This decision aims to protect students, staff, and residents from potential risks associated with the heavy rain.
Additionally, an orange alert has been issued for Mumbai, Thane, and nearby districts for the same day. The orange alert suggests the likelihood of moderate to heavy rainfall in these areas.
Given the weather warnings, residents and authorities in the affected districts should stay vigilant, be prepared for any adverse weather conditions, and adhere to any further advisories from the IMD and local authorities to ensure safety and minimize disruptions.
According to the weather agency’s forecast, the region is expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall, with the likelihood of extremely heavy rainfall in some isolated areas.
