Recently, a tragic incident occurred in Ghatkopar, Mumbai, where a giant billboard collapsed during a thunderstorm, killing 14 people and injuring 75 others. The billboard, larger than an Olympic-sized swimming pool, crushed a fuel station, homes, and cars. This catastrophic event has underscored the critical importance of ensuring the structural integrity of all constructions, particularly those in public areas.
In a similar vein, I wish to draw your urgent attention to the Dabri Mod Meat Market in Delhi. Here, an alarming situation poses a significant risk to public safety. A wall approximately 14 feet high has been constructed without any support or pillars. This wall is illegal and lacks the necessary structural integrity to withstand adverse weather conditions.
Just five days ago, a severe thunderstorm and windstorm hit Delhi, exacerbating the risk of this wall collapsing. Should this wall give way, it could result in tragic consequences, including potential fatalities and extensive damage to properties and lives of individuals on both sides of the wall.
Given the severity and urgency of this matter, I earnestly request immediate action to assess and address this hazard. It is imperative to demolish this wall before any unfortunate incident occurs, potentially leading to loss of life or property.
