Nissan GT-R50 Production Confirmed, 50 Units For $1.1 million Each
Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign grabbed a lot of attention when unveiled in July at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England. It was just a concept at that time but now Nissan has confirmed that it will take the GT-R50 into a limited production. It will make 50 units of the car and each will sold at €990,000 (around $1,124,410).
The GT-R50 is based on the latest Nissan GT-R NISMO and developed by Nissan in collaboration with Turin, Italy-based Italdesign. The model celebrates the 50th anniversaries of the GT-R in 2019 and Italdesign in 2018. The engine is also tuned up and produces a staggering 710 hp and 780 Nm of torque.
Nissan has also released a few images of the production version of the car which is ‘virtually unchanged’ from the concept. While the prototype vehicle was finished in a special gray with gold accents, Nissan says the customers will be able to specify their preferred color combinations on the exterior and interior for the production version.
“The reaction from Nissan fans around the world – and potential customers of the GT-R50 – has greatly exceeded our expectations,” said Bob Laishley, global sports car program director at Nissan. “These 50 cars, which celebrate 50 years of the GT-R as well as 50 years of Italdesign, will be rolling tributes to Nissan’s engineering leadership and rich sports car heritage for a long time to come.”
The orders are now open for the GT-R50 and looking at the limited number, are likely to be grabbed quickly. Nissan is promising the deliveries of the car to begin in 2019 and will continue through 2020.
