NMIMS is still in the race: How?
The well-known management institute Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) from the city recently made news after the University Grants Commission (UGC) banned it from providing online and distant learning programs due to a violation of norms.
According to the notice given by the UGC in April, NMIMS had broken UGC rules regarding the operation of the institute for internal quality assurance (CIQA), the caliber of self-learning materials and electronic learning materials (e-LM), and the nomenclature of the center for distance and online learning.
Even after all this, the institute continues to retain its position in the top 50 management institutes across the country according to the NIRF ranking.
What is NIRF ranking?
According to the official website, this framework outlines a methodology to rank institutions across the country. Moreover, the methodology comes from the overall recommendations and broad understanding arrived at by a Core Committee set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Department (MHRD), to identify the broad parameters for ranking various universities and institutions. The parameters broadly cover “Teaching, Learning and Resources,” “Research and Professional Practices,” “Graduation Outcomes,” “Outreach and Inclusivity,” and “Perception’.
