New Mercedes-Benz CLS Launched In India, Starts At ₹ 84.7 Lakh

Mercedes-Benz has launched the latest version of its 4-door coupe, the CLS in India. The price of the third generation CLS, available only in CLS 300 d variant, has been set at ₹ 84.7 Lakh (ex-showroom India).
The new CLS gets a slightly refreshed design with “sensual purity” as Mercedes says. Most notable change is the new sharper and angular Multibeam LED headlamps and DRLs. Complimenting the headlamps is the new grille hosting the big three-pointed star logo. The floating roofline and classy frameless doors have been carried forward from the predecessor while the 18-inch alloys are all new.

Under the hood of the new-gen CLS is a BS VI compliant 2.0-litre engine the produces 245 hp and peak torque of 500 Nm from as low as 1600 rpm. The power is transferred through a 9-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox that helps the CLS 300 d accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds. The top speed of the coupe is limited to 250 km/h.
It’s a Mercedes and you do expect luxury inside the cabin, and the company never disappoint here. The cabin of the new CLS gets a digital cockpit with three selectable display styles and new generation telematics which includes the Audio 20 with NTG 5.5.

The infotainment is taken care by a 12.3-inch media display screen along with Burmester surround sound system including 13 high-performance speakers “precisely tailored to the vehicle interiors which provides an acoustic experience.” There is a 64-colours ambient lighting along with illuminated air vents to set the cabin according to your mood.

This launch is Mercedes-Benz’s 12th launch in India this year and fifth in just last two months following the new C-Class Coupe and Cabriolet, the new G63 and the E-Class All-Terrain. Talking about this, Mr Jopp added, “We have an exciting line-up for 2019 as well and our product innovations will continue in the coming months. We are glad that our customer-centric strategy for India is on the right track and is witnessing a positive sentiment.”
