Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the significant potential for sports activities in the state, emphasizing the joint efforts of both the state government and the central government to promote this sector. He made these remarks ahead of the main MotoGP event in Greater Noida.

During a Business Conclave held prior to the main MotoGP race, which saw participation from representatives of major domestic and multinational companies, Chief Minister Adityanath was joined by the state’s MSME Minister Rakesh Sachan and Industrial, Exports Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta.

Adityanath noted that over one lakh tickets had been sold for the inaugural showing of the thrilling motorcycle race in India, hosted at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC). He also highlighted the participation of more than 275 national and international brands in the MotoGP event, including well-known names like BMW, Tissot, Michelin, RedBull, Shell, DHL, Oakley, Amazon, and Petronas.

The MotoGP race, being a major attraction for the global automobile industry, offers substantial opportunities for promoting brands and fostering dialogue with them. Chief Minister Adityanath expressed his commitment to leveraging this event to attract investments to the state and the country. He also stressed that the government is fully committed to supporting the development of sports and athletes, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for the sector.

In Uttar Pradesh, as of the given information, the state’s population stood at a staggering 25 crore (250 million) people, and a substantial portion of this population belonged to the working-age group. Uttar Pradesh was touted as one of the fastest-growing economies among the various states in the country.

The Buddh International Circuit, established by the state government in 2011, was notably known as the host venue for the Formula One Grand Prix. Recently, with the MotoGP event, Uttar Pradesh aimed to showcase its immense potential as a sports and economic hub. The event’s participants were presented with a short film highlighting the state’s offerings.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister emphasized Prime Minister Modi’s inauguration of an international cricket stadium in Varanasi, often regarded as ‘India’s cultural and spiritual capital.’ The Uttar Pradesh government was actively collaborating with the Central government to develop sports facilities, including stadiums and mini-stadiums, in every district across the state. These efforts extended even to the block level, with plans for the development of open gyms in the state’s 58,000 gram panchayats. This initiative aimed to encourage women and young individuals to pursue sports actively.

Highlighting Uttar Pradesh’s potential, the Chief Minister noted that the state offered excellent infrastructure in terms of connectivity, encompassing rail, road, and waterways. He also pointed out opportunities in logistics, particularly in the region where the MotoGP event was taking place. This area was strategically situated at the junction of two vital freight corridors, namely the Eastern and Western Freight Corridors, signifying significant economic prospects for the state.

Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Adityanath, highlighted the growing investment opportunities in the state, which have expanded thanks to recent reforms aimed at improving the ease of doing business and enhancing law and order. These reforms have made Uttar Pradesh an attractive destination for investors.

The state has made significant strides in the field of technology, which has resulted in increased investments pouring into Uttar Pradesh. These investments are being monitored through the ‘Nivesh Mitr’ portal, showcasing the state’s commitment to transparency and accountability in its investment initiatives.

Adityanath mentioned the successful organization of the state’s first global investor summit in February 2023, which took place in Lucknow. More than a dozen countries, including the UK, Italy, Australia, Japan, Singapore, Denmark, the Netherlands, the UAE, and Mauritius, participated as partner countries in the event. This summit garnered investment proposals worth a substantial Rs 36 lakh crore for the state, indicating the growing interest of international investors in Uttar Pradesh.

The Chief Minister extended an invitation to all stakeholders and event organizers in the sports industry to explore investment opportunities in Uttar Pradesh, emphasizing India’s significant market potential for sports like MotoGP. With its large and youthful population, Uttar Pradesh, in particular, offers a promising market.

Adityanath welcomed visitors, business groups, and sportspersons, expressing his hope for more similar events to be organized in the state in the future. This reflects the state’s commitment to fostering an environment conducive to economic growth and sports development.

The Chief Minister reassured those present that the state government was committed to providing the Buddh International Circuit for hosting future events. He also expressed the government’s intent to explore opportunities for organizing similar events in other regions of the state, demonstrating a proactive approach to promoting sports and entertainment.

Accompanied by ministers Gupta and Sachan, as well as Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, the Chief Minister later had the opportunity to visit the VIP gallery at the Buddh International Circuit. There, he had the chance to witness the thrilling spectacle of high-performance super bikes racing past each other at lightning-fast speeds, further underlining the significance of the event and the state’s commitment to fostering sports and tourism.
