Contribution Of Indian Railways In Coronavirus Crisis

Indian Railways are strongly contributing in the fight against Coronavirus. Lav Aggarwal, Joint Secretary of the Union Ministry of Health, said that Indian Railways is converting five thousand coaches into isolation units to make 80 thousand isolation beds. Till now, 3,250 coaches including beds have been converted into COVID-19 isolation units. Along with this, Indian Railways has strengthened the fight against Coronavirus by producing around six lakh face masks and 40 thousand litres of hand sanitizer. The official statement said that to prevent coronavirus infection In the country these measures have been taken.


Indian Railways is making all possible efforts to help in the initiatives taken by the Government of India. Indian Railways is producing face masks and sanitizers in all its zonal railways, production units and PSUs.

As per the report, the Railways have produced 5,82,317 face masks and 41,882 litres of hand-hand sanitizer. All the operational and maintenance personnel of the railway are working round the clock. As such, various guidelines have been issued at all workplaces to ensure the safety of employees.


According to the statement, a guideline has been issued for all working staff to wear face masks and use hand sanitizer. All staff is provided with soap and hand wash for hand washing. Not only this, but all employees are also following social distancing. During the lockdown, the railway is also working day and night for the supply of essential goods to every corner of the country. Railways have released a time-table of 109 parcel trains for this. 40 new routes have also been identified for these trains. The Railways has also decided to field 2500 of its doctors, nurses and 35,000 paramedical staff to protect the health of central employees.
