CCI’s New Leadership Takes a Leap in Efficient Decision-Making 2023
In a significant development, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) has recently welcomed two new members to its ranks, marking a crucial step towards ensuring the swift and efficient processing of decisions.

Anil Kumar Agrawal, an IPS officer from the 1988 batch, and senior attorney Sweta Kakkad assumed leadership roles at the Competition Commission of India (CCI) on Tuesday. These nominations will guarantee that the regulator has a quorum and can make decisions quickly.
After waiting six months, Ravneet Kaur was appointed chair of the CCI in May. She thus filled the top position at the regulator. Kaur is an Indian Administrative Service officer from the Punjab cadre with a five-year tenure. She graduated in 1988.
Since previous CCI chair Ashok Kumar Gupta resigned in October 2022 until May of this year, the top position has been empty, which had an impact on decision-making. The screening of mergers and acquisitions as well as anti-profiteering directives pertaining to the goods and services tax (GST) were both postponed.The first member of the private sector to join CCI is Kakkad. At WhatsApp, she held the position of Interim Chief Compliance Officer.
At the department for the development of industry and internal commerce, Agrawal served as an extra secretary.
