BMW 8-series convertible spotted with seductive red skin
It’s no secret that BMW is preparing a convertible variant of its new flagship sedan 8-series. The company even released camouflaged images of the car when it was undergoing extreme testing at the death valley. And now it seems like the drop-top sedan has started road testing as a final preparation.
The 8-series convertible has been spotted with almost no camouflage doing a road test. What’s catchy in this images is the attractive red shade of the car that is paired with black soft-top. The car also has some different touches from the blue one spied before. All the chrome seen in the blue car has been replaced by glossy black in the red one. It is speculated that the car with seductive red skin is the M850i variant.
From the pictures, we can see that the convertible looks almost identical to the coupe version except for the folding fabric roof. The soft top also makes the roofline different from the coupe and eliminates the B-pillar. There is no visual difference in the car otherwise.
Though there is no official detail on what will be under the hood of the 8-series convertible, it is most likely that it gets the familiar 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 seen in the hardtop version and makes 523 horsepower. The convertible will do the 0-100 km/h sprint in under four seconds.
Apart from the convertible, BMW has also confirmed a four-door gran coupe of the 8-series for the next year. BMW is working hard on further expanding their luxury sedan segment. Apart from the 8-series, they also hinted that the 9-series is also a possibility.
