2019 BMW 3-series teaser image shows new headlights, bigger grille
An image of a BMW sedan under the wraps showing its LED headlamps and a glimpse of kidney grille has surfaced online through a forum. As the speculation began about what under the wraps is, BMW has confirmed that the teaser image is of the new 3-series and it is a genuine teaser.
BMW has been preparing for the 2019 3-series for quite a long time and recently has even started teasing the sedan. The company released images of the sedan covered with heavy camouflaged being tested around the world, including the Nurburgring. This is now the first official teaser image of the production car.
The image was first leaked on BMW Blog and it is being said that the car under the covers is the M340i variant of the sedan which will be the most powerful variant of the car, excluding the M3. The bigger grille seen in the image also gives a hint of the same speculation.
Though there is no official detail about what the new M340i will pack under the hood, it is likely that it will have BMW’s B58 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six cylinder engine, churning out 360 hp and 501 Nm of torque. The engine will be paired with an eight-speed transmission sending power to either rear wheels or all four wheels depending upon the variant.
BMW has released a list of the cars that will debut at the upcoming 2018 Paris Motor Show that includes the new Z4, new 8-series, fourth generation X5 and the M5 competition. Since the 3-series is not on the list, we can assume that the company may reveal the car ahead of the show.
