Vizag Fintech Festival 2018: Hon’ble Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu Interacts with ‘Sophia’, the World’s First Humanoid Citizen

Vizag, with its remarkable technology ecosystem, is now the most attractive destination for innovation driven Fintech players. Not only Indian marquee companies but also several foreign companies have pledged to invest INR 500 Cr. in the city, generating close to 50,000 jobs in the near future.

Vizag Fintech Festival 2018, the largest financial technology festival in India was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister, N. Chandra Babu Naidu and the Hon’ble IT Minister, Nara Lokesh on 23rd October, 2018 in the presence of key dignitaries, Sri. Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Hon’ble Minister for Education, Sri. JA Chaudhary, IT Advisor to Govt. of AP, Sri. K. Vijayanand, IAS, Principal Secretary ITE&C Dept., and Sri. Anoop Singh, IFS, Special Secretary ITE&C Dept.
The third day witnessed the unveiling of the world’s first humanoid citizen robot, Sophia, and the following day saw the most exciting session of the festival with Sophia engaging in an intriguing interaction with the Hon’ble IT Minister, Sri. Nara Lokesh.
In one interesting snippet from the conversation, when the Hon’ble IT Minister asked Sophia about the possibility of robots and humans co-existing, Sophia chipped in with an insightful thought saying, “I hope so. I hope that humans and robots become closer both socially and emotionally. I will be interested in making connections through medical therapy. Not only can we track things like medications and nurse checks with accuracy, we can also help people feel less lonely and more secure as they heal. Depression and isolation have a negative impact on recovery. Hopefully with our super human capacity for patience and empathy, we can keep patients mentally healthy.”

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Hon’ble Chief Minister said, “The future will be defined by knowledge and innovation, with IT as a platform, and the capability of the leadership to position Fintech as a scalable technology of the future, locally as well as globally, would be crucial”.
The Hon’ble IT Minister Sri Nara Lokesh opined that the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh strongly believes in delivering efficient and transparent governance, through their vision of “visible governance, invisible government”.
