The next leg of growth in India’s startup ecosystem to come from the North-East Region

The North Eastern Region of India is commonly known for its natural beauty in abundance, the mind-blowing hilly terrains and the unique traditions prevalent across the seven states. From the world’s first organic states to India’s cleanest city, the NER has given many firsts to the country as well as the world. However, more than often NER states are not given their due share of attention, recognition, and appreciation. But now the scenario is changing and for good. The government of India has become more proactive in their development projects under ‘Act East’ Policy that are expected to strengthen the connection between the NER states with the rest of India. This connection is expected to go beyond the business and cultural integrations and promote an inclusive economy and as well as emotional growth.

India is the fifth-largest economy in the world and aims to become the third-largest economy by 2025. Our country is the second-largest in the world when it comes to the number of start-ups operating and the population of young people in the world. Assam Startup’s The Nest launched by Assam Govt. aims to nurture next 1000 startups in the state and create over 1 lakh jobs. Similar,  state govt. of Meghalaya, Manipur and other states have focused policies and activities to promote the entrepreneurial activities in the respective states.
