A New relief; Government Debuts SWADES Scheme to provide employment to the out-of-job Indians returning from Abroad

New Delhi. The government has launched a new scheme named ‘Swadesh to provide employment to Indians returning from abroad amid the Covid-19 Outbreak. According to the Civil Aviation Ministry, a scheme called ‘Swadesh’ meaning ‘Skilled Workers’ Arrival Database for Employment Support’ has been launched for the Indians stranded abroad in the Vande Bharat Mission.

Under this, their database is being prepared in which work they are proficient in. Based on this directory, indigenous and foreign companies can be provided employment according to their demand. The Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of External Affairs, and Skill Development have together launched this scheme.

An obligation to fill indigenously skill card online

Indians coming back from abroad will have to fill in the indigenous skill card online at www.nsdcindia.org/swades. After this, their information will be shared with the companies and they will be provided with suitable employment opportunities.

Personalized help from the state governments and industry organizations will also be taken in this work. The scheme was launched on May 30 and so far, over seven thousand people have registered on it. So far more than 57 thousand Indians have been brought back from abroad in special flights under the Vande Bharat Mission and thousands of others have registered for return.

International level skills and experience will prove useful

Civil Aviation Minister, Hardeep Singh Puri said that many Indians are coming back from abroad because their employment has been lost because of the Covid-19 Pandemic. They possess apt international level skills and experience, which can be useful for indigenous and foreign companies in our country. Passengers are being informed about the Swadesh Skill Card in the flight of Vande Bharat Mission. Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister, Mahendra Nath Pandey said that the Swadesh scheme will help in tackling the challenges facing the country’s economy in this hour of crisis.

Foreign Minister, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said that in the global emergency due to coronavirus, we are committed to providing all help to our citizens trapped abroad. Through our Embassies, High Commissions and Consulates present in different countries, we are telling the people who are coming back to the country about the Swadesh Kaushal Card Scheme.
