The award recognizes Dr. Shinde’s exceptional contribution in the field of ‘Special Rehabilitation Program’ of Maharashtra
October 14, 2019, Mumbai: Renowned pediatric occupational therapist in the segment of child’s mental health, disability rehabilitation and treating child development issues, Dr Sumit Shinde was awarded by Time Cyber Media, for his exceptional contribution in the ‘Special Rehabilitation Program from Maharashtra’.
Dr Shinde was awarded ‘Indian Icon of the year 2019’ for his exceptional contribution in the field of ‘child development issues’.
Dr Sumit Shinde was honored with the most prestigious “INDIAN ICON OF THE YEAR 2019” by Time Cyber Media at Hyatt Regency in Mumbai on October 13, 2019, in the presence of several dignitaries from different walks of life. The award was given to him by veteran former cricketer of India – Mr. Sandeep Patil.
With the motto of bringing equity, equality and empowering the children with special needs and integrate them in the mainstream, Dr. Shinde chose to work with multiple organizations to gain experience and knowledge in the field of child developmental issues. After gaining adequate knowledge, Dr. Sumit Shinde started the ‘Child Rehabilitation Centre’ in 2009 with a vision “TO SEE EVERY CHILD BE INDEPENDENT IN FUTURE”.
Today Child Rehabilitation Centre has successfully treated and integrated more than 4000 children with various disabilities in last 10 years journey. Going further, Dr. Shinde also found lack of expertise offering medical treatment for the disabled children from poor families who can’t afford the treatment, also there is very less awareness of child development in overall society, so he started the CHILD REACT FOUNDATION TRUST in 2016 to Rehabilitate, Educate, Aware, Care and Treat Disabilities found in children.
In 2018, Dr. Shinde introduced the LEARNING DISABILITY REHAB CENTER in the Sion based DS High School to help the children facing learning and behavioral issues. His vision is to see such rehabilitation units established across the country catering to the children with special needs.
Today, Child Rehabilitation Centres have 8 branches spread across the state, such as Nerul, Koperkhairane, Kharghar, Chembur, Sion & Nagpur.
Commenting on this achievement, Dr. Sumit Shinde, Director of Child Rehabilitation Centre, Learning Disability Rehabilitation Centre and Founder Chairman of CHILD REACT FOUNDATION, said “Our aim is to show the children different colors of life by providing them equity and equality and empowering the society with the right approach. I would also like to request for Government’s intervention to help create awareness about autism. There is a saying ‘Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man how to fish and you feed him for lifetime.’ In the same way we are empowering the children, parents, teacher and empowering the society to help every disabled person to be an efficient member of the society
I would like to express my gratitude towards the organizers for recognizing my work in the field of autism and other child developmental issues.”
