Now the middle-class families will also get the benefit of this health insurance. With the coverage of this health insurance scheme covering Rs 5 lakh, more population of the country will come under its purview. This will give them cheaper treatment in the times of emergency.

The middle class will get the benefit of the scheme

The government has given a big gift to the middle class on the health front. With the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, middle-class families of the country will also get a health cover of Rs 5 lakh annually for treatment. Earlier, only economically backward people could take advantage of this scheme. The government has decided to bring all its health insurance schemes in one place under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (ABPMJY).

Currently, 53 crore people are availing the benefits of the scheme

The governing council of the National Health Authority (NHA), the organization implementing the scheme across the country, has given its approval nationwide. The pilot project of this scheme will begin. This will show the steps to be taken to implement this scheme effectively. Right now, 53 crore people from 10.74 crore families are availing the benefits of Ayushman Bharat Scheme. Under this scheme, up to five lakh rupees are being treated free of cost in hospitals.

These people will get the benefit

The National Health Authority (NHA) said that the biggest beneficiaries of the expansion of the scheme would be those working in the unorganized sector who were hitherto away from any health insurance scheme. The scheme will also benefit self-employed, working in the MSME sector and middle-class farmers.

Government and private sector people will get the benefit

Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan said that the Governing Board of the National Health Authority has approved the inclusion of health schemes run by various ministries of the Government of India into the Ayushman Bharat Scheme. With this, people working on contract in the government and private sector, people engaged in construction work will get a lot of treatment.

The National Health Authority (NHA) has now given the green signal to make this scheme available to ‘the missing middle’ i.e. to whom the scheme has not reached. This expansion of Ayushman Bharat scheme will benefit those who are not in the organized sector in a big way. Those who do their own business.

All health schemes included in ‘Ayushman’

It also includes the permanent and contractual employees of the government. Construction workers, sanitation workers, patients injured in road accidents, Central Armed Forces personnel will also come under its ambit. After the merger of these schemes, it is expected to benefit the crores of people who were running till now in the absence of health facilities.
