Wipro Appoints Top Capgemini Executive Thierry Delaporte As New CEO And MD
IT company Wipro Limited has appointed Capgemini Group veteran Thierry Delaporte as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director. Delaporte’s term will take effect from July 6, 2020.
In this context, Wipro gave information on Friday. In January 2020, the company said that its CEO and Managing Director Abidali Z. Neemuchwala had decided to exit the company. Hence, on June 1, Abidali Neemuchwala will step down as CEO and MD. Rishad Premji will oversee the daily operations of the company uptil July 5. Delaporte will start with his term of service from July 6 onwards. Prior to this, Thierry Delaporte was the Chief Operating Officer of the Capgemini Group and a member of its Group Executive Board. In his career at Capgemini has held many leadership roles.
Thierry has deep strategic expertise – Rishad Premji
Rishad Premji, Chairman of Wipro said, ‘Thierry has an exceptional leadership track record, deep strategic expertise, a unique ability to build long-lasting customer relationships and solutions to driving transformations and technological disruptions have experience.’ Delaporte began his career as a senior auditor in 1992 with Arthur Andersen in Paris and London.
Deepak M Satavalekar appointed on board
Along with this, Wipro has appointed financial services professional Deepak M Satavalekar on its board of directors for five years. His appointment will be effective from July 1 and shareholders approval is to be taken for this. The company said in a statement that it would serve on the board as an independent director. Satvalekar has been the Managing Director of HDFC Limited and the Managing Director and CEO of HDFC Standard Life Insurance Company Limited.
