National Technology Day was celebrated in the year 1999, when India conducted its first nuclear tests in Pokhran in May 1998. In order to endure all those who worked for the successful conduct of this test, Vajpayee celebrated this day with great enthusiasm.

On the occasion of National Technology Day, Sampath said that leaders in the tech sector are largely responsible for ensuring that their technologies are not only beneficial but also socially responsible. He said that the motive should just be about creating solutions that increase businesses’ interests, but also promote global prosperity. 

Sampath further said that technology has a great power, that it transforms, and so, it must address some of the most alarming issues of the world today such as poverty and climate change.

Navdeep Sharma says that over the period of time, emerging technologies have transformed the world. Technologies such as NFTs are now playing a key role in revolutionizing the entertainment industry.

He said that Verified Market Research’s (VMR) report states that the NFT market could be worth $231 billion globally by 2030. This means that this technology has the potential to modify the way we create, distribute and consume digital content. This further implies that new opportunities would be provided to artists, musicians, filmmakers and other creators which would help them monetize their work and connect with audience in brand new ways.

Ganguli said that the technology has had a very transformative effect, majorly on global development and IT services. He said that many software tools like cybersecurity and cloud computing have made it possible for organizations and individuals to work together and communicate in incredible ways. 

Moreover, according to him, IT services have also played a major role in the development of the global economy and of course, in giving new opportunities to individuals. On this significant day, Singh said that importance must be laid on sustainable growth and building a business for the long run. Therefore, it is essential for tech companies to strengthen their base with the help Research and Development (R&D) investments. According to Singh, this would help these companies face uncertainties which arises in a market. 

As National Technology Day is celebrated with different themes every year in India, this year’s theme is ‘School to Startups – Igniting Young Minds to Innovate’. This theme would majorly focus on Atal Innovation Mission which is a government’s initiate to promote “a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship across the length and breadth of our country”.

As we have been witnessing, from COVID-19 vaccines to cancer treatment and from biotechnology to space exploration, India is heading towards a new direction in science and technology. Therefore, National Technology Day reminds us about the potential which India holds in various fields such as atomic energy to drone technologies and etc.
