The successful satellite launched by ISRO in the year 2020:

ISRO has launched few efficacious satellites in the year 2020. Satellites such as GSAT-30, EOS-01, and CMS-01 are the three satellites launched by ISRO successfully in the year 2020. Despite the COVID lockdown in 2020, ISRO scientists managed to launch three impressive satellites.

GSAT-30 is a communication satellite that was launched on 17th January 2020 by ISRO. The satellite was successfully launched into the Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO). GSAT-30 satellite has a life estimation of 15 years. The purpose of this satellite is to provide enhanced telecommunication services. GSAT-30 was a replacement satellite of the previous telecommunication satellite INSAT-4A.

EOS-01 was the next satellite launched by ISRO in the year 2020. The EOS-01 satellite was launched on 7th November 2020. The orbit in which the EOS-01 satellite was launched is the Low Earth Orbit (LEO). The purpose of the EOS-01 satellite is to observe the earth and to help in disaster management. The satellite was launched by the Indian satellite launching vehicle PSLV-C49.

Followed by the EOS-01 satellite, ISRO prepared to launch the next satellite within a month. CMS-01 satellite was the next magnificent launch done by ISRO. CMS-01 was launched into the Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) on 17th December 2020. CMS-01 satellite was launched by the Indian launching vehicle PSLV-C50. It is a communication satellite that will help in overseeing the Indian mainland, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep Island. The life span of the EOS-01 satellite is estimated to be 7 years. This satellite is a replacement for the older communication satellite GSAT-12 that was launched in 2011.

Expected Future Space Missions by ISRO:

Chandrayaan-3 satellite is expected to launch in 2021. The project is aimed to attempt a soft landing on the moon’s surface. Chandrayaan-3 satellite project is estimated to cost more than 600 corers INR. Previous to this satellite Chandrayaan-2 attempted to soft-land on the surface of the moon but however, it failed to successfully land. So, Chandrayaan-3 is expected to prepare with full efficiency.

ISRO’s Gaganyaan satellite has significant importance in Indian space projects. It is the first-ever Indian satellite that will be carrying humans to outer space. 12 eligible Indian astronauts are undergoing training in Russia to enter space. The mission is awaited to be launched in 2021. The Gaganyaan satellite is expected to shift three Indian astronauts into the lower earth orbit. The Gaganyaan satellite mission is created by ISRO in partnership with HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited).

Aditya-L1 satellite project is the first solar mission in India. The Aditya-L1 satellite project was planned to be launched in the year 2020 but the satellite launch was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. The purpose of the mission is the study of the solar corona of the sun. Now, the Aditya-L1 satellite will be ready to hit space in 2022.

ISRO is also planning a satellite mission in collaboration with JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency). This is an India-Japan joint moon mission. This project is expected to be ready in the year 2024. This space mission is called LUPEX (Lunar Polar Exploration Mission). The purpose of this satellite is to study the moon for quantity water source on the surface and other available resources that can be used. The mission might also help to determine the future activist on the moon.

Major Achievements by ISRO:

ISRO’s achievement has made the Indians feel proud of bountiful times. ISRO has successfully launched more than 319 satellites for different countries across the globe. ISRO’s launch vehicle, the PSLV (Polar Space Launching Vehicle) series has launched satellites for various countries such as Germany, Turkey, South Korea, Belgium, Indonesia, Netherlands, Switzerland, Israel, Argentina, Denmark, and many other countries.

In the year 2017, ISRO has launched three communication satellites victoriously within a short period of 2 months. Also, ISRO has successfully launched many other communication satellites that are used for television, telephone, internet, and military services in India. The Indian launching vehicle PSLV C-37 has created a tremendous record by launching 104 satellites in a single mission. PSLV C-37 is the greatest milestone that ISRO has accomplished.
