Wipro And Azim Premji Foundation Has Contributed Rs 1,125 crore To Deal With Coronavirus Crisis
Wipro Limited, Wipro Enterprises Limited, and Azim Premji Foundation have jointly contributed Rs 1,125 crore to tackle the coronavirus crisis. The company said in a statement issued on Wednesday that this amount will help to eliminate the effect of coronavirus on people who are badly affected by it and, also to medical and service work society and especially to the most vulnerable sections. Out of the total amount i.e. Rs 1,125 crore, Wipro Limited contributed Rs 100 crore, Wipro Enterprises Limited contributed Rs 25 crore and Azim Premji Foundation contributed Rs 1,000 crore.
This amount is separate from Wipro’s CSR expenditure:
The statement said that this amount is different from the annual corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities of Wipro and the expenditure on the Charitable activities of the Azim Premji Foundation. This amount will assist people suffering from virus-related problems in a certain area and will expand health capacity, including prevention of coronavirus epidemic and treatment of those who are infected. A spokesman for Azim Premji Foundation said that modern global society has not yet faced this crisis. We must work together to deal with this crisis and especially to reduce its impact on human society. The Foundation’s 1,600-member team will collaborate with 350 strong civil society partners across the country to coordinate with government institutions to use the funds to help people. Wipro’s technical skills, sourcing systems, infrastructure, and distribution reach will be fully utilized in this effort.

Tata Trusts and the Tata group have jointly ensured to spend the maximum amount of Rs 1,500 crore.
Mukesh Ambani, the head of Reliance Industries, has committed an additional amount of Rs 500 crore to the Prime Minister’s COVID-19 fund. Earlier he has also promised to build India’s first Coronavirus Hospital and, food for the needy and fuel for emergency vehicles.
Infosys Foundation has committed Rs 100 crore.
South Korean companies Samsung and LG have said that they will help local bodies in India, give them protective and infrared thermometers and will provide consumer durable goods to the hospitals.
Paytm, PhonePe, Amazon Pay and other digital payment companies have also requested users to contribute to the PM fund and said that with the help of the common user, they will also contribute something to the fund.
