After serving 7 years, WhatsApp chief business officer Neeraj Arora quits
Adding to the list of growing number of high profile Facebook executives to leave this year, Neeraj Arora, WhatsApp’s chief business officer, has announced his departure after seven years with the company.
Arora has been with WhatsApp from 2011 and witnessed its acquisition by social networking giant Facebook in $19 billion deal in 2014.
It is time to move on, but I cannot be more proud of how WhatsApp continues to touch people in so many different ways every day. I am confident that WhatsApp will continue to be the simple, secure & trusted communication product for years to come, he said in a Facebook post.
He thanked WhatsApp co-founders Jan Koum and Brian Acton, both have already left the firm.
Arora’s departure has come at a time when the messaging platform has been facing a global problem of users spreading misinformation to a large group of people. He was also being reported to take over as WhatsApp CEO but the role was handed over to Chris Daniels.
Before WhatsApp, Arora served at Google and he was also a member of Paytm’s board of directors between June 2015 to February 2018.
Last week, WhatsApp had appointed co-founder and CEO of Ezetap Abhijit Bose as India Head. Bose is expected to join WhatsApp by early next year.
In India, WhatsApp has hired Komal Lahiri as a local grievance officer following a rap by the govt and the apex court.
