For those residing in the quaint and idyllic Himsagar Society of Phi-2, Greater Noida, life had been relatively peaceful, that is, until the notorious notice made its appearance and not only rocked the Society but also managed in creating an uproar in social media, thus garnering everyone’s attention and points of view.  

The Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA) of the Society (can not help but wonder if the organization has also made such peculiar rules and regulations in the past) had struck again. This time, they had imposed a dress code for the common areas, specifically targeting the innocuous lungis and nighties.

What No ‘Lungis & Nighties’? Outrage in the Digital Realm

As news of the dress code spread like wildfire on social media, the residents of Himsagar Society found themselves at the center of a digital maelstrom. People from far and wide joined the conversation, expressing their opinions on this outrageous fashion mandate. 

Very soon, we may see memes flooding the internet featuring lungi-clad superheroes and nightie-wearing fashion icons. The Society has inadvertently created quite a stir!

The Defender of fashion ethics proved to be CK Kalra, the self-proclaimed guardian of fashion ethics and the RWA President, who stood firm in his defence of the dress code. In an interview with a local news channel, he passionately argued,

“If women wear nighties and roam around, that will be uncomfortable for men, and if men wear lungis, that would be uncomfortable for women as well. So we need to respect each other.”

Little did he know that his statements would provide comedy gold for the satirical geniuses of the internet.

Now, cannot help but wonder that now that the dress code is in place, perhaps the fashion police squad of Himsagar Society is born. They might patrol the common areas armed with measuring tapes and fashion manuals. Anyone found to be in violation of the dress code may promptly be apprehended and subjected to a stern lecture on the perils of lungis and nighties. Possibly, the mere sight of a lungi may cause them to break into a cold sweat, and a nightie sighting may be enough to induce a fashion-induced coma.

•  “Nighties and lungis are a bit inappropriate for walking in public places this is declared old-school thinking these days, but some dressing protocols have to be followed.”

• “Don’t know. Now these issues don’t amuse me anymore. We are a society with weird priorities,” the fifth commented.

As the days may pass, a rebellion may very well begin to brew within the Society. The residents, tired of being dictated about their wardrobe choices, may decide to fight back in their own unique way. 

Maybe, they will organize a “Lungi and Nightie Parade” through the common areas, with participants proudly strutting their outfits that had caused such an uproar. The spectacle could attract further media attention, and soon, the whole nation may begin chuckling at the audacity of the Himsagar Society (if that is not already happening).

As part of the great rise of a revolution and not to be outdone, the residents could organize a grand fashion extravaganza in the Society’s park. The event could showcase the diversity and creativity of lungis and nighties, transforming them from mundane home attire to avant-garde fashion statements. The runway could soon be filled with models flaunting lungis of all colours and patterns while nighties were accessorized with glittering jewellery and high-fashion shoes.
