Govt Approves IPL 2020 In UAE, Title Sponsor Announcement By Aug 18: Patel
The BCCI has got the government’s formal approval to organize the Indian Premier League 2020 in the UAE, said IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel on Monday.
IPL governing council and BCCI can declare the sponsor’s list
The IPL governing council also told that BCCI, in all probability, will declare the tournament’s new title sponsors till August 18. There will be a seven-day window for interested companies to present the tender. The IPL will be organized in the United Arab Emirates from September 19 to November 10. The tournament will be held in three cities, that is Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Dubai.

Last week, the government had provided an “in principle” go-ahead to the BCCI to change the marquee league to the UAE due to increasing cases of novel Covid-19 in the nation.
“Yes, we have got all the signed consents,” Patel said PTI when asked whether the permission has arrived in writing from both the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
Patel, however, revealed a belief that a number of companies are interested in becoming IPL 2020 sponsors.
“It’s anything but a misfortune for Vivo pulling out, and there is currently a great deal of enthusiasm for title claims.” Whether an Indian company or anywhere else, whoever tenders the most gets the titles, we will conclude the whole process by August 18,” Patel stated.
The domestic tournament execution abroad needs formal approval.
When an Indian sports body turns to a domestic tournament outside the nation, it needs approval from External, Home, and sports ministries.
“Once we had the verbal confirmation from the central government, and we had suggested the Emirates Cricket Board. Now we have the documents also, so franchisees can be suggested that everything is in series,” an experienced BCCI official told PTI on anonymity situations.
Mandatory tests for IPL players in light of the pandemic
Most of the franchises will be traveling out after August 20 after two compulsory RT-PCR (Covid-19 tests) should be carried within 24 hours from their departure airport.
