E-commerce marketplace DesiClik partners with IGP to ramp up gifting options
Bengaluru, November 8, 2017:DesiClik, the largest e-commerce marketplace in the US for Indian products, has tied up with Indian Gifts Portal (IGP) to bring a host of festival-specific gifts to its customers.
Sourcing more than 10,000 products from 100 plus vendors, DesiClik focusses on Indian products not available on other global platforms. DesiClik is the largest US-based niche vertical e-commerce marketplace specialising in Indian products that span apparel, jewellery, handicraft, gifts, furniture, grocery, restaurant equipment, religious and puja items, festive goods and household items. IGP provides gifting options in more than 190 product categories, including edibles, perishables, toys and games, apparel and home, among others. Flowers and cakes are top product categories for IGP, followed by personalised products, and hampers, and occasion-specific gifts such as tikka thalis and diyas. The partnership will ride on DesiClik’s already well-established reach in the US.
There are more than 3 million Indians living in the US, with more than 60 per cent of them with their parents and kin back in India. With better Internet access, widespread presence of gifting portals both in the US and India, higher level of trust in buying gifts online and the ease of having them delivered overseas has vastly increased the volumes of the online shopping space. In India alone, the number of consumers who purchase online is expected to cross 100 million by 2017 end with e-retail market likely to jump 65 per cent on year in 2018, an ASSOCHAM-Resurgent India study has indicated.
“We are seeing an increasing trend of reverse gifting from India to the US. Festivals such as Rakhi, Navrathri and Diwali contribute towards a large number of gifting-driven sales. During Diwali itself we saw a 60 per cent increase in the volume of sales this year,” says Deepak Agarwal, Co-founder, DesiClik.
“IGP will be able to fill the gap in the individual festival-specific gifting segment such as Bhai Dooj, KarvaChauth and others,” adds Deepak, announcing the new tie-up.
“We believe that having a strong partner like DesiClik will enhance IGP’s abilities to service the Indian community better,” says Tarun Joshi, Co-founder & CEO of IGP, shaking hands on the deal. With this partnership, DesiClik customers will get the benefit of a wider range of products, including curated handicrafts. These are not just for gifting, but self-purchases too, points out Tarun.
