A recent research by Public Desire has identified 10 celebrities whose Met Gala dresses took the longest time to be designed. The study not only counted the hours spent creating these outfits but also tracked how many craftsmen were involved. The ranking was done based on the total effort put into making each celebrity’s dress, revealing the extensive work behind their glamorous looks.

At the 2024 Met Gala, American model Gigi Hadid turned heads in a breathtaking white off-the-shoulder gown by Thom Browne marking it as the 2nd most time-consuming dress made for the gala. This piece required 13,500 hours of labor over two years, with more than 70 individuals contributing, marking it as the most labor-intensive outfit of the year.
American actress and film producer Demi Moore, at 61, made a memorable return to the Met Gala in 2024 with a dress uniquely crafted from wallpaper. Designed by Harris Reed, the dress involved 11,000 hours of detailed work, signaling her first appearance at the event in five years.
Kendall Jenner’s 2021 Met Gala outfit featured a crystal-embellished Givenchy Haute Couture gown, ranking as the 4th most labor-intensive creation in Met Gala history. The exquisite dress, designed by Matthew M. Williams required 2,500 hours of precise craftsmanship from 30 skilled beaders.
Zendaya’s 2019 Met Gala gown, crafted by Tommy Hilfiger, was a modern-day Cinderella story brought to life. This creation took 2,100 hours and the dedication of 8 craftsmen, standing out as the year’s most noteworthy piece and the 5th most labor-intensive dress in the history of the Met Gala.
British actress Alia Bhatt appeared at the 2024 Met Gala with her Sabyasachi Mukherjee design, marking it as one of the most sophisticated dresses of this year. The dress was brought to life by a record-breaking 163 people over 1,905 hours. 
Rosalía kept it classy and sophisticated with her look from Dior for the 2024 Met Gala, marked as the 7th most worked-on dress. The 1,800 hours of labor in making the dress speaks volumes about the effort behind this stunning creation.
The Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev took a unique take on her 2019 Met Gala gown by incorporating technology into the creation of her dress. Designed by Zac Posen and executed by a robot, the entire duration of the “glass” dress creation took 1,400 hours, 60 of which was spent on the 3D printing.
The 2021 Met Gala was marked with Hailee Steinfeld’s iconic ‘Magnetosphere’ dress, designed by Iris Van Herpen in collaboration with Rogan Brown. The making of the dress took 640 hours.
Blake Lively rounds up with her 2018 Met Gala appearance marked by an elegant gown and $2 million worth of jewelry. Designed by Harris Reed the dress’ embroidered bodice demanded 600 hours of diligent craftsmanship for the fashion’s biggest night.
