Being Organized Really Does Reduce Stress!

Chances are you know how it feels to put on excess pounds.

You’re uncomfortable. Nothing fits right. Everything seems to take more effort.

‘HouseThat’ believes that’s how it is with houses, too.

Decluttering helps people streamline their homes and set them up in a way that simplifies day-to-day life. A bloated house is an uncomfortable one. Clutter gets in our way, increases our stress and wastes our time, energy and resources.

Clutter, comes from indecision. Things accumulate because we haven’t decided how to handle them or where to put them. And when we don’t make those decisions, we set ourselves up for the frustration and wasted time of continually searching for things. Clutter is a form of visual distraction as everything in our vision subtly pulls at our attention. The less clutter, the less visual stress we experience. Wise! A minimalist home is significantly less stressful and has a calming feel.

So, one of the keys to HouseThat’s, a Bangaluru based home decluttering and reorganizing company, approach is assigning everything a home or station, which should be where you use the item or where you need it — your purse and mobile near the doorway, for instance, and your dishes within reach of the sink.

Another is deciding which activities you want to happen regularly in each room and then keeping in it only the things that support those activities. In a kitchen, for example, that might mean putting the everyday items in easy reach, storing seldom-used serving pieces in less accessible spots and finding other homes or stations for the backpacks, paperwork and other things that tend to accumulate there.

It’s also important to keep up with organizing the bedroom just as it’s important to keep up with washing the dishes! The bedroom shouldn’t just be a place we go to pass out or hide clutter since there’s a good chance nobody will ever see it. Instead, it should be our sanctuary for rest, relaxation, and love/connection! It should be a place we go to feel peace and unwind as the day comes to an end. Organizing and Decluttering just make our homes more liveable.

Getting organized requires tackling both physical and mental clutter. The physical clutter is merely a representation of what is going on inside our minds. If we don’t address the mental clutter first, then we are merely treating the symptoms. By focusing on the mental clutter, we can treat the source of the disorganization, while also decluttering and organizing the physical clutter inside our homes.

‘HouseThat’ surveys; six out of ten people even lost weight after their house did, probably because decluttering lowered their stress and freed space in their kitchen so they could more easily cook and eat healthful meals at home.

Think of it as living like you’re on vacation. Even the most luxurious hotels and vacation homes contain only the things their guests will need during their stays. Any more than that and we wouldn’t be able to relax and unwind.

When we quickly stash things in the wrong place, like our bedroom or in the garage or basement where nobody will see it, the problem with clutter only gets worse. And instead of looking at decluttering as the pain of letting go, lets look at it as the pleasure of giving to others in need! When something no longer fits the life you’ve intended, toss it and pass it on responsibly. It’s all about staying on top of the clutter while giving you and your family an easy place to contribute to others!

No matter how disorganized your home is, there is always something to be grateful for. And when you’re in a state of gratitude, your mood changes. And your mood affects the decisions you make. And organizing is all about making decisions.
