Aishwarya Rai Bachchan invests in Bengaluru startup Ambee
Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan along with her mother Vrinda K R has invested Rs 1 crore in Bengaluru-based environment startup Ambee, which uses data to measure metrics like air quality, according to regulatory documents sourced from business intelligence platform Paper.vc.
This would be Rai’s first known angel investment in a startup. She wasn’t available for a comment. Ambee cofounder and CEO Akshay Joshi did not respond to an emailed query.
Started in 2017 by automotive engineer Joshi, lawyer Jaideep Singh and data scientist Madhusudan Anand, the startup raised seed capital from Venture Catalysts. It is currently a part of accelerator TechStars’ India batch.
There has been a growing interest among Bollywood A-listers to back startups. As reported by TOI in May, Deepika Padukone has backed multiple startups already while wearable devices maker Goqii last month said Akshay Kumar invested in it.
