Interviews

After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music. – Aldous Huxleyd

Music is a magic ,it  has always been a matter of Energy , a answer of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, Couples call  it love,Musicians call it life and depressed people call it booster  but what they really mean is Fuel.  We People always need Fuel and we are real  consumer. On some nights that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the car. Music is the literature of the heart; it commences where speech ends. Believe or not but it’s a reality. Music is feel , its an emotion  and its an energy , it  produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without.
This is the only thing which unit people , its an  incredible force. Something that people who differ on everything and anything else can have in common. Here we are talking about common things  and how  we forget to mention the mutual relation between Entreprenur Kabir Bhasin and spirit of this world : MUSIC .Dreaming of having  his favorite artists in India since he was 8 years old, he started his Venture in 2016 named as FAN -A-GIG. Different idea with different name  which means fans, fueling a gig / concert . He wanted to give the control to fans to decide what band / artist they would want to listen to, and thereby giving them the power to fuel the gig , hence Fan-a-gig . Is not this perfect ?
Music is the wine that fills the cup of silence. As music is a mixture of many  thoughts , feelings  and emotions same as this his life is mixture of adventure , thrill and fun. Ultimately  he wants a correct balance of flavors and heat in his food and  ofcourse in his life also . “Do you have a dream ? Then achieve it and not just keep dreaming, fight for it, stand for it” . Dream it , Do it – That’s his motto.
Music is the moonlight in the gloomy night of life so Feel it and live it 🙂
1.What is the Name of Your Venture? Any specific reason for this name?
Fan-a-gig . as the name suggests its about fans, fueling a gig / concert . We wanted to give the control to fans to decide what band / artist they would want to listen to, and thereby giving them the power to fuel the gig , hence Fan-a-gig .

2.Who is your target Audience/clients?
25-55 year old, music enthusiast . passionate lovers of music .
3.Where is your venture based (city, state, country) & What are your geographical target areas?
Based out of Bangalore, Karnataka, India .
Our target sector is throughout the Indian continent . Not restricted to any states or cities, for we believe that music knows no boundaries, so our first phase of business model targets the entire length and breath of the country , before we move to other countries .
4.What problems does your venture resolve? What are your products or services?
The core problem that our venture resolves is that music fans have no access to their favorite artists unless they travel abroad . Our service solves this problem. Our product/service  brings top international artists that are demanded by fans to India . to entertain the fans . And not only international artists but also Indian artists to places where they might have a huge fan following but never performed, for example Punjabi rap icon,  Raftaar , to perform in  southern states of the country  .
Our service is to bring down the artist to a place where the fans are ,but due to lack of data and trust amongst promoters and artists of selling their tickets , the artists never performed . So our model is to make sure the fans also get what or whom they want and also the artists get to perform to a sell out crowd without worrying about a flop show .
5.Share the idea or story behind the venture. How did it come to an existence? What motivated you to start your own venture?
A) There are not enough live international bands or artist playing their music in India
B) This issue can be resolved by a crowd funding type of solution.
c) No such solution currently exists . Crowd funding exists for upcoming artists and new comers to perform at a local pub or bar or even some amphitheatre ground, but no such crowd funding exists for famous artists or bands .
d) crowd funding within the domain of live music events has some core issues, one of them being that bands/artists that do create crowd funding events have no fan following and bands that do have a fan following have no need to crowd fund.
Our solution basically turns crowd funding on its head creating a massive disruption in the space of live music event promotion.
6.Who are your biggest competitors and how do you differentiate yourself from them?
The competitors in this business are largely risk averse now as this business has proven to be very risk in that manner that it is being tried once a band is paid, the promoter then runs around finding sponsors to actually pay for the event. Ticket sales makes a small part of total revenue, infact most tickets are given away for free to pull the crowd during the concert .So as far as we are concerned ,its a blue ocean. We don’t use or need promoters , nor are we promoters ourselves , we are simply reaching out to the artists on behalf of the fans and making sure that we bring them down.
7.How did you identify your co-founder? Tell us some thing about your co-founder/s
Strong organizational and core domain competencies is what drew me to my co –founder.
8.How did you hired your first team members? What skills Do you want in your employees/team?
A love for music is our core requirement. Passion to create something out of nothing is what we look in our team members , from graphic designers to content developers, if you have a pure unconditional love for music , then we shall hire you .
9.What expansion plans are you looking for the next 2 years, next 5 years?
We are a start-up looking to go viral amongst the Indian crowd  and are looking at hosting some of the biggest concerts the country has ever seen . We then plan of taking this idea across continents.
10.Where do you want to see yourself in next 10 years?
We are at too early a stage to seriously answer that .
11.What are your goals over the next 1, 3, 6 and 12 months?
In the upcoming quarter we aim on reaching to as many music lovers as possible and hosting gigs in the all major metro’s for starters. In the 12 months time we see ourselves reaching out not only to metro cities but other cities which are deprived of such entertainment choice .
12.Have you raised any funding? Or have any plans for the funding?
We have raised an angel round and are actively seeking more.
13.What were the problems you faced during the starting days and how did you resolve them?
Still in early days ….
14.What was the most challenging part of your journey till now? How did you overcome those challenges?
Since none of the founders are techie and come from a background of business and management, finding the missing piece to our team inform of a tech savvy music lover was one of the biggest challenge so far, after various hit and trials we attained the level we were looking for . Being a virtual market place, i.e. being a website and an online product , smooth running and attractive graphics of our website is one of the most important factors, and creating our tech piece has been our biggest challenge.

Being an entrepreneur itself is my first hobby . Besides sitting with my co-founders and meeting new entrepreneurs , discussing new ideas ,  I have a keen interest for adventure sports which include motorcycling, paragliding , kayaking and trekking .
17.Whats your favorite food & holiday destination?
I am an experimenter when it comes to food and travel , any meal with a correct balance of flavors and heat is what makes it my favorite food . In India, Delhi and Goa has to be my favorite food destinations . And for holiday , I prefer being in nature, trekking and appreciating the raw beauty , and for that its got to be the Himalayas .
18.Whom do you consider your idol or biggest motivator ?
I don’t have any one particular idol or motivator. The drive to achieve something new is what is my main motivation .

19.What do you feel is the major difference between entrepreneurs and those who work for someone else?
I think people are at different scales of risk taking at different times in their life. While one is young if one develops the ability to take risks, then one finds it easier to take risks later in life too. There are many reasons that this can change and one shouldn’t judge a person’s ability to take risks.
20.If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?
Nothing . I believe every failure also is a learning and without failing at certain steps  I wouldn’t have been here where I am today . Infact I feel everyone needs to have some failures for them to better understand the true essence of success .
21.How has being an entrepreneur affected your family & Social life?
An entrepreneur has a major problem ‘switching off’  , there is no work life balance because its just all LIFE. This has an adverse impact on those who are connected with you who can’t understand this. With those who can there is no effect.
22.Anything, you would like to say to our readers or upcoming entrepreneurs?
Dream it , Do it – That’s my motto , and this is what I say to people I mentor to and my team-mates or even my employees . There will be obstacles, you will fall many times, but remember if you don’t give up on your dream , you will be where those couldn’t be who gave up early !
Have a dream ? Then achieve it and not just keep dreaming, fight for it, stand for it .
This is exactly what my new venture is also about , I dreamt of having my favorite artists in India since I was 8 years old, and today after all these years still , I didn’t give up on my dream and here I am starting Fan-A-Gig to complete my dream and dream of so many others.

24.What is your USP which makes it unique & different from other start-ups in similar domains.
There are quite a few startups in the music domain today but there is probably none looking at pushing the envelope as much as we are. The disruption that we are going to cause, if we succeed ,is going to change the landscape of live music in this country and any other country we  choose to penetrate.
25.What do you think is the biggest threat to the success of small businesses & Start-ups today?
Co-founder conflict, loss of motivation because of not achieving milestones ( I have seen a lot of start-ups who shut down their businesses due to delay in achieving their desired milestone results , giving up too soon is what leads to failure of start-ups ).
