  1. What is the Name of Your Venture? Any specific reason for this name?

The name of my venture is Crossword Public Relations. The name suggests a place where all the roads meet. So the idea is to combine all the aspects in the communication space like PR, Social Media, Content Creation, Digital Marketing, Events, etc. Crossword PR is a one- stop destination for all the needs related to brand communication.

  1. Who is your target Audience/clients?

Our clients can be anyone who is seeking to increase their brand’s visibility. The venture is headquarter in New Delhi but we operate in more than 300 cities in India through a strong network of associates.

  1. What problems does your venture resolve? What are your products or services?

The idea behind setting up a Public Relations (PR) company is that I always wanted to give all kinds of PR, Social Media and digital services under one roof and at a reasonable price than that of other agencies. At Crossword PR, we aim to not only meet the communication needs but aid in building the brand by engaging the correct target audience with the correct message. All this is done PAN India along with Middle East & Asia at reasonable prices which not only help established brands but startup companies to establish their name in the market.

  1. Share the idea or story behind the venture. How did it come to existence? What motivated you to start your own venture?

I always wanted to start my own venture since I was in class 11th. The thought behind it was that I wanted to be my own boss and needed complete independence when dealing with issues related to work. So since teenage my goal was very clear and I had complete focus towards it. When my peers were hanging around, giggling and doing all the things to look cool and desirable, I started to think about my business plan. As the years went by, I started developing a good business sense in the field of public relations. That’s when I decided to go for it despite of not having any educational background in mass communication.

  1. Who are your biggest competitors and how do you differentiate yourself from them?

There are a lot of PR companies in Delhi and in India as well as Abroad who have good number of clients and which are well established in the market. It adds to the portfolio of the company that they handle such big clients and do amazing PR for them. But I believe it is the other way round, the biggest challenge of being in the field of PR is that we have to establish a company in front of media, and that’s what we do. Basically, it is a simple phenomenon that media easily covers well established companies but to make them cover a company which is not that well established is a challenge and that’s what we do. We are better than other PR companies because we create a buzz among media for the companies and celebrities who are willing to become popular and establish their brand.

I don’t have a Co- founder.

  1. How did you hired your first team members? What skills do you want in your employees/team?

  1. Have you raised any funding? Or have any plans for the funding?

No, we have not raised funding till now and do not have any plans either.

  1. What were the problems you faced during the starting days and how did you resolve them?

It is a challenge to establish yourself as different in a field where you have so much of competition. Initially, it was a big challenge of establishing my own venture as a PR firm and approaching clients at the very beginning. Second challenge was to build trust among the clients and the industry. I took everything positively and took every failure as my way to success. Like any other entrepreneur, my aim is also to establish PR Company which acts as a bridge between the company and the media. I want to provide one stop solution to them and most importantly give my clients utmost satisfaction with our PR services.

  1. What was the most challenging part of your journey till now? How did you overcome those challenges?

The most challenging job is client satisfaction till now. A major reason for this is that most people do not understand the nuances of PR and the difference between advertising and PR. Thus, they have unreasonable expectations regarding the deliverables. We try to overcome this by explaining to them what PR actually is and how will they benefit their brand.

I feel the biggest difference between the two is the freedom to work. As an entrepreneur, it would be my decision on what to work on and the way to go about it whereas in a job all this is decided by someone else. Hence, you do not have the option to make your choice.
