Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. We target to a wide Television audience from Metro to all the way to a Tier 5 & Tier 6 town
4. What problems does your venture solve? What are your products or services?
Naaptol is India’s No.1 Home Shopping Company which advertises on several 24×7 Home Shopping Channels and have services in Hindi and Six other regional languages. We offer products from a wide variety from categories from Electronics, communication devices, fashion, jewellery, home décor, kitchen appliances and many more.
5. Share the idea or story behind the venture. How did it come to an existence?
Naaptol as the name suggests, to measure & to weigh, started as a product and price comparison website. From advertising products on newspaper, Naaptol has morphed to become the leader in the home shopping industry.
6. How did you identify your co-founder? Tell us something about your co-founder/s
Naaptol was purely the brainchild of Founder & CEO Mr. Manu Agarwal. There were no co-founders
7. How did you hired your first team members?
The first team members were hired from my previous venture ANM Soft. They were working with ANM Soft on a project basis.
8. What expansion plans are you looking for the next 2 years, next 5 years?
We shall endeavor to attain 50% growth YOY
9.Where do you want to see yourself in next 10 years?
I wish to be a leader in the Indian retail industry
10.Have you raised any funding? Or have any plans for the funding?
Naaptol raised funds of over 500Crs from Japanese conglomerate, Mitsui & Co. in 2015 to strengthen the programming capability and building an efficient supply chain.
11.What was the problems you faced during the starting days and how did you resolve them?
During the initial days of Naaptol, it used to earn its revenue through the referral commission from the 3rd party websites. However, it became increasingly difficult to maintain a healthy cash flow. That was when I thought of exploring our own strength and launched a section called ‘Hot Deals’ that offered innovative products on our website itself. That was when the metamorphosis of Naaptol from a comparison website to a home shopping network happened.
12. What have been your biggest challenges and learning so far?
We were a late entrant in the home shopping industry. However with a passionate team and continuous innovation we became the top player in the industry
13. Are you married, single or in a relationship?
Been married for 19 years.
14.What are your hobbies? What do you do in your non-work time?
Swimming, Yoga & watching movies
15.Whats your favorite food & holiday destination?
I love Thai food the most and Maldives is my favorite holiday destination
16. Whom do you consider your idol or biggest motivator?
As a child I was taught to take risks and I owe my mother for this lesson. It is very evident from all my past ventures I successfully started.
17. What do you feel is the major difference between entrepreneurs and those who work for someone else?
The major difference between the two is the risk appetite one has. An entrepreneur thrives on risk. In many case an employee turned entrepreneur risks his settled job and work-life balance to do or get what he desired. An employee on the other hand is likely to be risk averse.
18. If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?
I believe I am on a right path. No regrets.
19. How has being an entrepreneur affected your family & Social life?
I follow a disciplined life and dedicate sufficient time to family social life along with the work

Don’t be afraid to try new things. Always experiment.

B.Tech Electrical from IIT Kanpur, MS from University of Minnesota. Father was an IAS and mother was a professor of Hindi.
22. What is your USP which makes it unique & different from other start-ups in similar domains?
Catching the right nerve of your customers is very critical to a successful business. We have a very rigorous product selection process that entails getting innovation and pocket friendly products that are highly aspirational in nature. We believe in catering to each and every Bhartwasi rather than specific strata of the socio-economic class and that’s what gives us the edge.
23. What do you think is the biggest threat to the success of small businesses & Start-ups today?
Having a clear vision of where your business is heading is very important. Many businesses start with brilliant ideas but lack of vision and strategy to sustain makes it difficult for them to survive in the long term.
24. Do you consider yourself successful and by what means do you measure success?
I believe one becomes successful when he can nurture talent and innovation within the organization. Satisfaction of providing good livelihood to fulfill their personal ambitions makes me feel that I am doing well.
