Ja Simran Ja, Jee Le Apni Zindagi! And This is How Simran Started Her Venture Filmo Wale Parting Her Ways From A Boring, Regular 9 to 5 Job, To Do Something More Exciting.

Today we are presenting the exclusive interview of Simran Sehgal, The founder Of a young startup with the name Filmo Wale based out of New Delhi. Simran was doing her regular job but was not happy with her 9 to 5 thing and one day, she realize that she want to do something more exciting than a standard 9 to 5 concept and then her mind told her Ja Simran Ja, Jee Le Apni Zindagi and she immediately started her venture with her co-founder Abhishek. This young startups offers all kinds of video related services ie digital ads, event aftermovies, corporate films, wedding films etc using innovative ideas, unique research methods, creative vision, latest equipment and some well-crafted post production strategies. Lets see what Simran has to speak about her venture.
 
1.What is the Name of Your Venture? Any specific reason for this name?
Filmo Wale. We wanted to name our company something quirky, fun but yet something which relates to our whole concept. Doing Everything with a touch of ‘filmy’ in it!

2.Who is your target Audience/clients?
Everybody is our target audience. We deal in all kinds of video production related services hence Every brand is our Target client/audience.
3.Where is your venture based (city, state, country) & What are your geographical target areas?
Our Venture is based in New Delhi, India. All The major metropolitan cities are our target areas.
4.What problems does your venture resolve? What are your products or services?
Filmo Wale provides with all kinds of video related services ie digital ads, event aftermovies, corporate films, wedding films etc using innovative ideas, unique research methods, creative vision, latest equipment and some well-crafted post production strategies.
5.Share the idea or story behind the venture. How did it came to an existence? What motivated you to start your own venture?
Our regular jobs used to not provide with as much excitement and we knew we wanted to do something where we can have our creative space to create something new everyday! We wanted to experiment and not bind our thoughts and working flow. Thats how Filmo Wale Happened.
6.Who are your biggest competitors and how do you differentiate yourself from them?
We are our own competitors. We don’t compare ourselves or our work with some else’s work. We are fighting our own battle and we want to outgrow our work, learn something new everyday and implement it with every project that we do. We hope to strive and do better each day!
7.How did you identify your co-founder? Tell us some thing about your co-founder/s
Wanted my cofounder to be someone with whom I gel up with Well and with whom I can share my creative spaces and can learn from and Abhishek was the best person for the same. We have been friends for more than 4-5 years and we know how each one of us work and there is so much to learn from each other that Both of us working together was the best way to go. Trust was also one of the major reasons why we chose each other.

8.How did you hired your first team members? What skills Do you want in your employees/team?
Having worked in this industry for quite a while now we know what kind of people we wanted in our team. We used our contacts and Social media and got the best team for ourselves. We want our employees to be fearless, creative people who arent afraid of experimenting because thats how filmo wale works. We try, we fail, we learn, we grow!

9.What expansion plans are you looking for the next 2 years, next 5 years?
We are planning on expanding our team here in Delhi and expand in Mumbai in the next 2 years or less.
10.Where do you want to see yourself in next 10 years?
We see ourselves working with the best of clients, doing amazing work and getting recognised for our creative patterns and vision.
11.What are your goals over the next 1, 3, 6 and 12 months?
For the next one month we plan on completing our projects from the last wedding season. And preparing for the upcoming season and to learn more and research more in terms of music, planning, editing techniques and to work with some good brands in the upcoming months.
12.Have you raised any funding? Or have any plans for the funding?
NO. Every investment done is done from the profits we make and we don’t plan on getting any funding.
13.What were the problems you faced during the starting days and how did you resolve them?
The biggest problem was clients not realising how much expenses we have to create a good quality project Hence Budgets were a major issue, then to find an office space that fits our budget was one of the second problem. We were not making alot of profits at that time so to full fill all the expenditures and yet saving some for ourselves was a big task.
14.What was the most challenging part of your journey till now? How did you overcome those challenges?
The Biggest challenging part was to build a like minded team, as this is your team which takes you and your venture to a height, without a starting team, achieving the success is almost impossible and finding the right like minded team is the toughest task in any startup
15.Are you married, single or in a relationship?
Both of us are single.
16.What are your hobbies? What do you do in your non-work time?
I am a Writer by passion. Writing and watching interesting movies and shows is one of our favourite hobbies.
17.Whats your favorite food & holiday destination?
Old Manali is our go to place for Holidays and rejuvenation. But totally depends on the kind of time we get. If we are doing projects out of the city we do take road trips near the place hence holiday destinations can be anything depending on the time we get.
18.Whom do you consider your idol or biggest motivator?
For both of us it would be our parents. They have always given us enough support and courage to do whatever I wish to do. Apart from them there are certain seniors we have worked with who have taught us alot and are still standing strong besides us.
19.What do you feel is the major difference between entrepreneurs and those who work for someone else?
Entrepreneurs get to see the 360 view of how to make a business. It more than just a 30 day working cycle which gives them a fixed amount of money. Entrepreneurs have to take more risks and embrace the process. From Small Nik-nacks to big decisions they have to do everything by them selves.
20.If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?
Nothing actually. We are quite satisfied with how we have done things and how they are turning out to be.
21.How has being an entrepreneur affected your family & Social life?
It has nearly killed our social life and our friends and family always have complains of us not being able to give them time.
22.Anything, you would like to say to our readers or upcoming entrepreneurs?
Trust your instincts, follow your dreams and have patience. Its a long, hard process and it will take time for you to reach a certain space where you will feel contended. Dont let negative thoughts or people take you away from your path. Have faith in yourself.
23.Tell us something about your education & family background.
We both are journalism and mass communication graduates. I come from a family where both my parents are ex-iitians and entrepreneurs themselves. I get being one was in my blood.
Abhishek’s mother is a house wife and father & brother are into Footwear manufacturing business.
24.What is your USP which makes it unique & different from other start-ups in similar domains.
Our post production strategies is what makes us different and stand out. We try bringing out different concepts and patterns in every project that we do Big or small.
25. Do you consider yourself successful and by what means do you measure success?
We do consider ourselves successful. From three years ago and now we have grown alot in our work and are dealing with some of the best brands of the country. It has been a long process and its still a long way to go though.
We are trusting the process and trying to enjoy every bit of it as this is not a success story it a story of a journey.
