Australian pilots concerned about 737 Max 8 planes after Lion air ...The Boeing 737 Max of Lion Air Flight crashed into the Java Sea on 29 October 2018 killing 108 people on the abord of aeroplane. The investigation revealed that a new software function in the flight control system caused the aircraft to nose down. That function, the manoeuvring characteristics augmentation system (MCAS), had been intentionally omitted by Boeing from aircraft documentation for aircrews, so the Lion Air pilots did not know about it, or what it could do. Investigators concluded that an external device on the aircraft, the angle-of-attack (AOA) sensor, was mis-calibrated due to improper maintenance and sent erroneous data to MCAS. MCAS responded by pushing down the nose. The problem had occurred on the same aircraft during its immediately preceding flight, and the pilots had recovered using a standard checklist for such a “runaway stabilizer” condition. During the accident flight, the AOA sensor again fed erroneous data to the MCAS, which pushed the nose of the aircraft down. The checklist was not properly followed by the pilots, so it led to MCAS’ activation that repeatedly pitched the plane down a dangerous nose position before plunging into the water where it finally crashed.

The FAA introduced new proof discovered on the crash website and satellite TV for PC statistics on Flight 302 cautioned that the aircraft would possibly have suffered from the identical hassle which the aircraft running Lion Air Flight 610 had suffered from. Investigators located the jackscrew that managed the pitch perspective of the horizontal stabilizer of Flight 302, becoming in the complete " nose down" role. The finding recommended that, at the time of the crash, Flight 302 was configured to dive, similar to Lion Air Flight 610. Due to this location, some professionals in Indonesia counselled that the Indonesian National Transportation Safety Committee (NTSC) have to cooperate with Flight 302’s investigation crew. “We need to make sure

that every employee at

every level, in any factory,

feels empowered to raise

their hand transparently

and stop the line if that

is what’s required.”

– Dave Calhoun CEO of Boeing at the AGM

As of November 2020, banks valued Boeing’s direct costs at 20 billion, and indirect costs at over 60 billion dollars with two crashes of 737 max. To collect the losses and to make more profits the board had decided to give compensation to the CEO USA $ 32.8 million and with a 45% hike in his salary. They had to speed up the production process to increase sales. They had limited and introduced new safety checks to reduce time in the production line. They are harassing whistle-blowers instead of taking the issues raised by them seriously to fix a bug. There are a lot of layoffs on senior employees and junior employees need a lot of training. The work culture should be fixed and the management wants to concentrate more on fixing Boeing’s problems rather than focusing on increasing sales and profits.

Why Airbus share price will be a hot chick on the market

  • The world commercial aviation industry is a duopoly and the recent failures by Boeing commercial planes will shift customers to Airbus without any choice.
  • Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun Apologizes for the Quality and Safety Issues at the Senate Hearing to lose all the trust of stakeholders.
  • Boeing Starliner’s failure kills its ambitious plans for space. NASA is more closely considering for giving space contracts to SpaceX and BlueOregon instead of Boeing. So, this will hurt its revenue and also investments in R&D and other plans.
  • For Boeing, there is no existing new aeroplane platform for design to manufacturing and they have only focused on modifications om their old platforms. This will be a good advantage for Airbus.
  • The aviation passengers are thinking twice before they plan to buy tickets from Boeing.
