Foreign Minister Of Germany Issues ‘Horror Scenario’ Warning For Taiwan Strait.
Let's watch if Taiwan successfully establishes its sovereignty to be a China-free country across the world or if China will use military force to "reunify" it. Also, let's see what influence this affair will have on the rest of the world.
Military combat in the Taiwan Strait has been called a “horror scenario” by the foreign minister of Germany that would directly affect her country, contrasting with French President Emmanuel Macron, who recently criticised Europe for not getting involved in US disputes. Annalena Baerbock warned after meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang in Beijing that a conflict between the dragon country China and Taiwan would send “shocks”.
Destabilisation would cause consequences for all countries, the global economy, and Germany, according to Baerbock of the German Green Party. They are concerned about the rising tensions in the Taiwan Strait. Her Chinese counterpart accused foreign countries of backing separatists on the East Asian island, which Beijing deems to be a province of China. If countries wish to uphold the one-China principle, Qin believes they should staunchly reject Taiwan’s independence.
On his return from a 3-day visit to China last week, Macron’s words provoked rage and worry in Europe and the United States. French President Emmanuel Macron said Europeans do not want to move faster on Taiwan. The worst thing we could do is believe that Europeans must be followers in this matter, adapting to an American pace and a Chinese response.
After Macron’s statements, Baerbock travelled to Beijing on a pre-planned trip to try to calm the waters and describe Europe’s position on ties with China. Both she and Qin stressed the importance of economic relations between two of the world’s industrial powerhouses, with Baerbock stating that an “uncoupling” of the two economies was not in the administration’s interests.
Instead, the German foreign minister stated that her focus was “de-risking” the national economy so that it was not overly reliant on a single country’s export. This was when Germany had with Russian gas. This meant that Germany’s trading allies had to accept a fair playing field and shared human rights principles. “There is no fair competition where companies gain benefits at the cost of human rights,” Baerbock added. She stated that the authority was concerned that “human rights are increasingly being compromised” in China.
Qin responded by claiming that there were no universal standards for human rights across the world, and that “the last thing China needs is to be lectured by the West.” Baerbock questioned China to increase its influence on Russia in the Ukraine crisis, adding that Germany wants “China to influence Russia to stop its aggression.”
While she admired China’s statement that it was readied to mediate a resolution to the Ukraine conflict, she voiced concerns about Beijing’s starting effort for peace negotiations. “They have to be honest and say that they were puzzled because why China’s position does not include a call for aggressor Russia to end the war. Her Chinese counterpart stated that his country has not and would not give guns to the groups involved in the violence.
Originally scheduled to speak in China besides the European Commission’s foreign policy leader, Josep Borrell, the German foreign minister’s travel was cancelled when he acquired Covid-19. In a speech made public on Friday, Borrell maintained that the EU’s stance on Taiwan had not changed and that it stayed committed to its “one-China policy,” which recognises Beijing to be the sole regime of China. However, he stated that every endeavour or move to change the country’s status quo by force would be unacceptable in Taiwan.
Why China and Taiwan is a topic making headlines all over the world?
Taiwan recognises itself to be a country independent of China. Contradictory, the latter considers it a part of the Chinese province under the ‘one-china’ concept. The recent step of the Taiwanese president meeting the US House Speaker has sparked flames of anger in China. China has earlier marked that it would not like it if US Speaker met the Taiwanese president, and this act would initiate cause of tension between the two superpower countries.
On the other hand, Taiwan said it would not be afraid of China and tightened its belts to make links with every economy to be independent of China. USA sounds to be in favour of this cause. These attempts between the United States, China, and Taiwan are shaking up other economies across the world.
Conclusion.
Let’s watch if Taiwan successfully establishes its sovereignty to be a China-free country across the world or if China will use military force to “reunify” it. Also, let’s see what influence this affair will have on the rest of the world.
