Khaysie is a first generation Peruvian American male musician born and raised in the Bay Area, CA. He has ben raised by a powerful mother who truly sacrifices her life to make sure he and his younger brother are loved, protected, and educated. His parents immigrated to the United States in order to start a family and build a bright future together. His father was a handyman and his mother was a house cleaner.
Through sleepless nights and 14+ hours of work, Khaysie’s parents were able to afford a private school education for Khaysie. In 2003, his parents enrolled him into a non-profit organization called Young Musicians Program (YMP), currently known as Young Musicians Choral Orchestra (YMCO) located in Berkeley, CA. Through this organization, Khaysie received a full scholarship to learn how to play the piano, harp, and sing. He attended masterclasses where world-renowned artists, such as Frederica Von Stade, Jake Heggie, Rodrick Dixon, Andre Watts, Leon “Ndugu” Chancler, and Patrice Rushen, taught Khaysie the fundamentals and rigorous training and discipline to understand classical, opera, jazz, and R&B music.
In 2009, Khaysie won the opportunity to go on a college tour in Washington D.C. with American Football cornerback for the Oakland Raiders Team, Nnamdi Asomugha, due to have a 4.0 GPA in high school. Khaysie had the opportunity to visit prestigious and historical colleges such as Howard University and Georgetown University. By the end of the college tour, Nnamdi surprised Khaysie and other young bright minority future leaders in meeting Alicia Keys in person.
Alicia Keys whispered to Khaysie to fully commit to music and impact the world with his voice. In 2012, Khaysie was awarded a full scholarship to attend and pursue his Vocal Performance B.A. at the University of Michigan. After graduating in 2016, Khaysie had the opportunity to perform next to Grammy award winning artists Josh Groban and Jason Mraz for the Find Your Light Foundation Gala in 2018 at the Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay, CA.
Both platinum award winning artists complimented Khaysie’s passion for music and urged him to fight for his dream. Khaysie felt trapped working in corporate companies from 2017-2020 because he needed to find financial stability to support himself and his family at an extremely expensive location. After personal traumas and bad experiences, Khaysie will be fully dedicating his life to music and focus on important issues that need to be addressed to the world while spreading the love of God throughout his upcoming album Cluster.
He will be cross-fusing multiple genres of music from classical, opera, jazz, R&B, Hip-Hop, EDM, pop, salsa, & reggaetón elements as these were the genres of music he grew up listening to. Khaysie becomes extremely vulnerable and shares personal experiences that sound like intense scenes from a movie. He is motivated to retire his mother in 1 year, guide his brother, who is currently in high school, into attending a film academy to pursue his film dreams, and honor his father who has passed away in 2014 due to gastric cancer. Family is extremely important to Khaysie, and he does not rest until he can fully take care of them and see them genuinely happy in doing what they want to do in life.
