After a long teasing game and some record-breaking kinds of stuff, Lamborghini Aventador SVJ has finally arrived. The Italian supercar maker has unveiled their latest track monster at the Pebble Beach in California. The launch model at the event is the SVJ 63, paying homage to Lamborghini’s founding year, i.e., 1963.
The new Aventador SVJ, where SV historically stands for Superveloce – meaning ‘superfast’ – takes the ‘Jota’ suffix denoting its track and performance superiority. It’s a more potent version of the SV with some more horsepower and some serious active aerodynamics.
The SVJ has the familiar 6.5-liter Naturally aspirated V12 motor but it is further tuned to produce 770 horsepower and 720Nm of torque which makes it the most powerful V12 made by the Italian marque.

The more power helps the SVJ to accelerate 100 km/h from standstill in just 2.8 seconds and 200 km/h in 8.6 seconds. The top speed of the car is limited to 350 km/h. The SVJ comes with Lamborghini’s rear-wheel steering (LRS) and the new Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires developed specifically for this car.
But, this Aventador isn’t just about speed. It’s about handling. To make the SVJ more aerodynamic and quick around the corners, Lamborghini has equipped it with the latest version of their patented ALA system. The ALA system was first seen on the Huracán Performante and it has been developed to an enhanced level for the Aventador SVJ.
The ALA 2.0 includes the newly optimized air inlets and aero channel designs. The system has been re-calibrated by taking into account the enhanced vehicle’s lateral accelerations.

The ALA system actively varies aero load to achieve high downforce or low drag, depending on dynamic conditions. Electronically-actuated motors open or close active flaps in the front splitter and on the engine bonnet that steers the air-flow, front and rear.
The ALA flaps react in less than 500 milliseconds to ensure the car is under control all the time. There is also a huge rear wing that is a part of the ALA 2.0 and it helps the monster to stay grounded by providing the exact required amount of downforce at any given time.

Helping all these aerodynamic technologies and the extra horsepower, Lamborghini Aventador SVJ was able to take the crown of the fastest production car around the famous Nürburgring-Nordschleife, completing the 20.6 km lap in just 6:44.97 minutes. It was around 2 seconds faster than the previous record holder Porsche GT2 RS.

From the design point of view, the Aventador SVJ keeps that angry bull face and now looks even more aggressive with a wider face and two scoops on the lightweight carbon fiber bonnet. An all-new bumper has integrated the side fins features a new air intake which is a part of ALA system.
The bigger side air intakes and the new front side fins reduce drag and improve overall cooling. An improved underbody aero design with vortex generators works in conjunction with the front diffusers and a new, extreme-design rear diffuser and together with the divergent fins, contributes 30% to the total downforce improvement.
The SVJ starts at $517,700 with deliveries beginning in early 2019. The production will be limited to 900 units, plus an additional 63 units of the special edition SVJ 63.
