RBI allowed most of its employees to work from home
In view of the fast spreading corona virus infection in the country, the Reserve Bank has allowed most of the employees working at its various centers to work from home. The central bank has also ensured that it does not disrupt operations. Meanwhile, private sector Axis Bank has also asked its customers to avoid visiting branches and use internet banking, mobile apps etc. for bank services in view of Corona virus.
According to data from the Union Ministry of Health, the number of people infected with the corona virus in the country has reached 166 while four people have died. Most of these infections have been reported in Maharashtra. There have been 45 such cases. The central bank has about 14,000 employees. It has 4,000 in Mumbai.
Sources connected with the case said that in view of the increasing cases of corona virus, RBI has rescheduled its functioning and understood the need to maintain social distance of people while continuing to work. Under this, most employees have been allowed to work from home.
The departments where RBI employees will be present include currency counter, RTGS department and government transactions unit. Notes are exchanged in currency counters. However, Governor Shaktikanta Das, all four deputy governors and executive directors, along with employees working in the communications department, will visit.

The Managing Director and CEO of Axis Bank said in an e-mail sent to customers that the bank is taking all possible steps to monitor the condition of the Corona virus and to protect all employees and its customers.
